Spiti Valley is a cold desert mountain valley located high in the Himalayas in the north-eastern part of Himachal Pradesh. The name “Spiti” means “The middle land”, i.e. the land between Tibet and India.

This trip covers Manali -Chattru – Batal – Kunzum Pass – Losar – Kaza – Komic – Kibber – Key Monestry – Chandratal – Manali in 3 days. We made this road trip possible in first week of October 2017 before the first snowfall of Spiti Valley but it was highly cold then.

Day 1 :- We reached Manali in the morning with the Taxi from Chandigarh and boarded another Sumo Taxi for Manali to Manali which we already confirmed few days back over the phone as it was our second attempt to go Spiti Valley without any trouble of documentation needed to cross Gulaba Check Point to go Spiti. Last time our contact in Manali failed to do so hence we had to go on Bhrigu Lake trek then. Now we boarded the Sumo in Manali at 6 am and left for Kaza which is around 200 Km from Manali and it almost took the entire day to reach in Kaza in the night. From Manali to Kaza we followed the route written above, had breakfast at Chattru & lunch at Chacha Chachi Dhaba at Batal. We also crossed two high passes i.e. Rohtang Pass & Kunzum Pass. But I must say that entire route from Manali to Kaza was truly awesome and it didn’t let me get bored not even for once. Even after having continuous long trip I was not tired and totally enjoying the road trip. In this route majority of road doesn’t exist and its rocky terrain makes it perfect long bumpy ride except near Kaza where we found much better road conditions. But the views and experience makes you forget about all the odds. Kaza although is not so happening place but it was one restaurant where we went for dinner which had a very positive vibe ambiance with live music for travelers. So I really liked the concept of the whole restaurant at such remote location. After that took a rest for the day.

Day 2 :- Next day morning in Kaza we got ready with our Taxi for Komic Village, Key Monastery, Kibber Village & Chandratal in the last. First we went to Komic Village has been titled as the Highest village in the world connected with a motorable road. It is situated at height of 4520 metres. It has one monastery and one highest cafe with amazing views of Spiti. Second we went to Key Monastery with good sunshine weather, we found many people at this place and they also serve tea to all tourist as welcome gesture. It is a Tibetan Buddhist monastery located on top of a hill at an altitude of 4,166 m. It is a biggest monastery of Spiti Valley. Third we reached Kibber Village situated at 4270 metres elevation. It contains a monastery and the Kibber Wildlife Sanctuary. As it was time close to the winter therefore most of the villagers were stockpiling the crops for extreme winters. Fourth we reached Chandratal camping area after crossing Kunzum Pass again and went to Chandratal with Taxi after getting fresh in Camps. Camping area is little before the lake so we had to take Sumo near to it then 10 min walk leads to the lake. It was truly awesome feeling to be near the Chandratal Lake and enjoying every moment of it. After enjoying the of Chandertal lake we came back and started playing games in the camp. In the night at dinner we went to common area of food where many tourist were already present so it was giving a very positive vibe of touristy place. After that we went for a sleep.

Day 3 :- We woke up early in the morning with super chilled environment. After a while sun came out and started warming up every soul and things. It was wonderful refreshing sunrise after such long road trip. We also got some good breakfast so we had truly energetic mood. Hence we decided to go Chandertal this time again by trekking of 3 Km from Camping Site. So after breakfast we took the direction and walked along the trail with only sound of nature and untouched beauty of Himalayas. This short was truly special for us and difficult to express its feeling. But we enjoyed and had fun in every bit of it. After reaching the Chandertal again this time we sat near to it and enjoyed the peaceful and serene silence of nature to add it into our lives for eternity. After spending some qualtiy time here and taking some really cool picture we came back with the help of our driver who brought Sumo for us to take back. Now we again reached to Chandertal Camp Site and started packing our bags then after a while we left the place for reaching to Manali and taking bus to Delhi from there. I love Spiti
