HOW TO EXPLORE HIMALAYAS OUR TRAVEL STORIES

Kedarnath Yatra | Oct 2017

The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.

It was a October month of 2017 when I decided to went on a solo trip to Kedarnath as October is pleasant weather and less crowded. Hence I always suggest to travel to Char Dhams only in October. This trip was running pending from 2012 for me, So this was kind of exciting and crucial trip for me but I never thought of doing this trip solo as somehow I had to end up doing it Solo. But it was also not first time when I traveled solo so I was quite aware of struggles and fun of being solo traveler. So lets Start Journey.

Our Itinerary

Day 1 :- Haridwar to Sonprayag – 231 Km (By Bus) & Sonprayag to Gaurikund – 4 Km (Only Shared Cab allowed)
Day 2 :- Gaurikund to Kedarnath Temple to Gaurikund – 36 Km (By Trek).
Day 3 :- Gaurikund to Haridwar

Day 1:-  I reached Haridwar almost in the dark around 5 am with the overnight bus. After getting fresh in Public Toilet I firstly approached the Char dhams (Badrinath, Kedarnath, Yamnotri & Gangotri) Bus Service Operators (GMOU & Himgiri) to get the ticket outside near main inter-state bus stand of Haridwar. All the Buses departs early in the morning around 5-6 am to reach Char dhams in time. So after getting the tickets I directly went towards nearest Ganga Ghat to get the blessing Ganga Ji with the help of rickshaw and came back before the bus started. My bus started just before the 6 am and after a while I slept for long hours till 11 am which helped me lot to get energized a lot. Around 12.30 pm Bus stops for a lunch on its designated Dhabas where I have been before also as I have traveled a lot on this route before. Then after few hours weather turned pleasant and bus also got empty. So it was a fun time for me with my best playlist of music and pleasant weather. I was kind of enjoying my own company & being free.  Then I reached in Sonprayag in the evening around 4 pm, Buses don’t go beyond this point. Then I took registration slip for Yatra from the counter at Sonprayag and got another shared jeep for 4 Km distance till Gaurikund from where the trek of 18 Km till Kedarnath Temple Starts. Gaurikund is a small village where I didn’t found too many options of accommodation specially with hot water. So I found one guest house with reasonable price of but without hot water due to which I had to take a bath in highly chilled water of the tap. But after the bath I got again highly energized and refreshed. I also booked the mule for the next day 18 Km trek distance through the same guest house owner which cost around Rs 2000/- for both side which is quite reasonable.

Day 2:- Next day in the early morning darkness I woke up and got ready to start the further journey it was highly chilled and nobody was there on the streets except mule owner and me. After a while he brought two mule and asked me to sit over one. Somehow I managed to do so which was scary for me as mule didn’t seem to be happy in the morning. After few steps it became difficult for mule owner to move it forcefully due to another mule which left behind by the owner. Then I denied to owner to sit in this condition over the mule, after that he brought another empty mule then it agrees to move patiently together till then it was highly scary for me. After a  while the owner got another tourist for his another empty mule. Now it started to get sunrise and spectacular views getting visible. Now my all the worries getting vanished with my strong hold over the mule, my faith and woow moments. The positive vibe of Shri Kedarnath Ji making me more strong and happy with my life as we were moving towards the temple. These Char Dhams truly have magical powers or vibes which makes my faith highly strong in these mountains every time visit. I can’t express the feeling with my words, it can only be felt and can’t be described. After a one stop at Rambara for Tea we reached at Kedarnath Temple within 6 hours. Then I took the blessing of Lord Kedarnath Ji & spent some peaceful moment there. Then I had some parathas near and left to Gaurikund with mule. We reached back around 3 pm in Gaurikund. I wander around in Gaurikund and enjoyed the pleasant weather and mountains.

Day 3:- Next Morning I took Shared Jeep from Gaurikund till Sonprayag then Bus to Haridwar which reached in the evening and overnight back to Home.
